Renee Boles

Professional Counselor Intern

It's so easy to get stuck or confused. I work with clients to build the insight or just gain the tools needed to get unstuck with practical and effective solutions in a non-judgmental and safe atmosphere.

My Approach

I like to integrate researched and empirically backed theories into counseling, in addition to some of the more mainstay approaches. These include cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotion-focused therapy, narrative therapy, attachment theory and dialectical behavior therapy. I am very transparent about what I am doing and why, and I will collaborate with you to make sure we are working at a pace you're comfortable with. Skill building, emotion regulation, and exploring beliefs or helping clients clarify how they want to move forward are common topics in sessions.

My Background

I have a Masters degree in Marriage, Couple and Family Therapy, which means I took extra classes on top of the classes required for getting a counselor's degree. Therefore, I have training to work with individuals, couples, and families. I've also worked with a variety of people from a wide gamut of socioeconomic backgrounds. Before becoming a counselor I worked in the business sector so I also have a good understanding of work-related issues. I am currently a registered counseling intern, meaning I have my master's degree and am under clinical supervision to obtain my license. My supervisor is Aaron Potratz, LPC.
