Reuben Simon

Marriage Family Therapist Intern

I am a genuine presence in the room. I prioritize a straight-forward collaborative approach to therapy, so that we can create a safe container within which to draw our focus to body and mind, unpacking history and re-writing the story we have long told about self and others in our lives.

My Approach

My approach is to offer you what I believe is needed to assist you in your evolution: equal parts compassionate encouragement and challenge. We will explore and co-create a new version of the story you have been telling about yourself and others, learning to identify and sit with emotions that you may be accustomed to brushing off or dealing with on your own. This can be challenging, but may help you to feel some relief right away. Sharing your story and experiencing validation and acceptance creates genuine connection which accelerates the therapeutic process.

My Background

I am a graduate of the Lewis & Clark Marriage, Couples and Family Therapy program. My training allowed me to focus particular attention on systems, the implicit and explicit expectations of all that we are born into. I have specific training specific in attachment-focused therapy, men's issues, EMDR, dissociative disorders. My background in the arts offers a way of working that can be linear or improvisational, depending on the needs of my clients.
