If you work with me we will begin with your life story. Life stories reveal the patterns and beliefs that evolve from childhood experiences, family relationships, and what has been taken in from the cultural landscape. These beliefs are often the stuck and painful places where we find ourselves unable to move forward or to choose a new path. Connecting to the source of non generative patterns with understanding and compassion enables a shift to new possibilities and authentic ways of being. Freeing yourself from false beliefs about yourself and others enables you to engage in life with trust in your own authority. I encourage my clients to practice mindfulness and suggest journaling to capture dreams and to process past experience.

I am a National Certified Counselor and hold a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from Portland State University. I have a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and am currently participating in ongoing training in Archetypal Pattern Analysis. Continually exploring life stories as issues arise in sessions identifies patterns as they become apparent. This process continues to clear the patterns and beliefs we have taken in that are not our own and are not aligned with our true self. Clearing what has been taken in enables transformation, positive growth, deep connection to the self, and a sense of peace and well being.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Depth Therapy External link

I am convinced that connecting with one's inner wisdom and the unconscious is the key to wholeness and true healing.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

Being present in the moment with awareness of the breath and body enables one to become aware of the physical and emotional sensations and feelings associated with a memory or recall of an experience but without judgment. I think of it as a sort of detachment with acute awareness: a contradiction but a truly effective way to help with pain management, trauma, panic, and anxiety.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Adjustment Disorder External link

Change is hard. We welcome changes like a new baby, a new home, a promotion or a new job. These are all good things, but even positive change has inherent loss, something is left behind. This can be confusing. Experiencing unwanted or unexpected change or loss can be overwhelming. Counseling can help you navigate through the process of adjustment.
