My Ideal Client

The clients I do my best work with tend to be sensitive, empathetic folks. They often struggle with high anxiety, perfectionism, and may have difficulty recognizing or tolerating their experienced emotions. Many of these people have traumatic experiences in painful family systems that impact how they move through the world as adults. I also have a passion for helping people leaving religious systems and creating new meanings for themselves.

My Approach to Helping

Starting therapy is a courageous act of self-care. It is an honor to walk alongside my clients and support them. I believe in developing a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, where they can feel safe, validated, and supported. I take an eclectic approach to counseling, which includes utilizing interventions from Feminist theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment theory, and Existential Therapy. I believe one of our primary tasks in life is finding ways to make meaning and be self-determined. Change is a constant in life, and I am passionate about helping my clients navigate these moments with support and understanding. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I in Portland, Oregon. I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University.

Issues I Treat

  • PTSD External link

Trauma creates instability, difficulty feeling secure, and a deep sense of shame. I work to help clients find safety, challenge their self-attack, and allow themselves to reconnect with the world.

  • Women's Issues External link

Every day in my practice I observe how patriarchy destroys the lives and emotional well-being of my clients. I bring a Feminist lens to my work with clients of all gender identities, with a particular emphasis in helping people socialized as women do less work and feel less guilty about it.
