My Ideal Client

I care deeply about developing a therapeutic relationship centered around unconditional positive regard, empathy, trust, and safety. I believe a positive counselor-client fit is necessary for effective therapy. I'll be delighted to connect if you'd like to work together.

My Approach to Helping

I provide individual counseling services for adolescents (age 14+) and adults experiencing self-esteem issues, anxiety, grief, and depression. It is my privilege to journey beside you in your pursuit of identity development, healing, and growth. I believe counseling can benefit any motivated individual, whether it is initiated for a specific problem or as a general quest for greater peace and awareness of self. Your unique way of engaging authentically with the world, others, and yourself is worth being discovered and celebrated. I view the process of therapy as a collaboration between the client and clinician, but I believe you will be the ultimate agent of change in your life. In my approach, I will empathically engage with your past, present, and future so that you may become self-empowered to gently evaluate unhelpful patterns and identify new paths toward thriving.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a Registered LPC Intern with a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University. My coursework included a variety of classes: Human Growth & Development, Spirituality, Human Sexuality, Group Therapy, Psychopathology, Addictions, Cultural Foundations & Social Justice, Career Development, Neurobiology & Pharmacology, and more. I have completed Level 1 training in Restoration Therapy. I have experience working with individuals, families, and support groups. As a Registered intern, I am under ongoing professional supervision.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Attachment Theory External link

An individual's attachment patterns with early significant persons in their life contributes to present and future connections with others. Identifying and understanding these patterns can help individuals develop more freeing ways of engaging with others and themselves now and in the future.

  • Holistic External link

Holistic care involves looking at the multitude of factors influencing one's day-to-day life, from physical health, to spirituality, to relationships, and emotional wellbeing. An embodied sense of self contributes to an increased sense of balance and wellbeing.

  • Emotionally Focused External link

Emotions are temporary physical sensations that allow our body to communicate with us. There is no such thing as a 'bad' emotion, but there are plenty that are highly uncomfortable or difficult to manage. Emotions have the power to help us change, heal, and grow. I work with individuals to accurately identify their emotions and understand how to regulate them productively and meaningfully.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Personal Growth External link

At the heart of my process, I encourage clients to deepen their awareness of themselves by evaluating how their relationships and experiences have impacted them. Growing an awareness of formerly unconscious, hardwired messages enables the client to become aware of unhelpful patterns and develop increased self-agency.

  • Self-Esteem External link

Developing a secure and accepting sense of individuality involves building confidence, identifying false truths, setting boundaries, and expressing one's self authentically. I collaborate with clients so they may identify hardwired shame messages and become self-empowered to love and treat themself with kindness and grace.

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety is our body's way of trying to keep us safe, but it can often feel very uncomfortable or even debilitating. We will work together to identify the emotional experiences, physical sensations, and resulting patterns of anxiety symptoms to increase a sense of wellbeing.

  • Depression External link

I believe full and lasting change is possible for individuals who have struggled temporarily or chronically with depressive symptoms. We will work together to identify what is below the surface contributing to feelings of sadness, shame, anger, hopelessness, or worthlessness.
