Specialties
In addition to approaching counseling from a mindfulness/body-based perspective, I incorporate various psychological theories in my work with clients: Jungian, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, and Existential. I use the following interventions/modalities depending on client challenges & needs: Narrative therapy, Sandtray therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
Specialties
I have experience helping clients sort through spiritual baggage ranging from damage done by religious institutions/people to exploring a sense of /or desire for connection to God, self, & the rest of creation. I hold non-judgmental space to explore your worldview: what you believe about the way the world works, the nature of God & how you desire to connect with the divine/your purpose in life.
I have experience helping clients reduce and manage symptoms of PTSD, including recurring nightmares. I use a combination of talk therapy, mindfulness/body-based therapy, and Sandtray therapy. These are effective treatment modalities for PTSD because of the weight and breadth of physical symptoms related to the initial traumatic experience and daily triggering experiences.
I am experienced in helping clients reduce the symptoms of panic and empowering you with the skills/tools to prevent panic attacks. What has worked really well: Using a combination of Psychoeducation, Cognitive Therapy, Mindfulness, and Body-Based counseling to--- identify triggers/ physical symptoms; and develop the self-awareness/understanding/breath necessary to calm your nervous system.
I have experience helping clients reduce and manage symptoms of anxiety. I use mindfulness techniques, teach body-awareness skills, and encourage the exploration of personal sense of meaning/purpose/direction to treat anxiety. I also offer individualized therapeutic Yoga sessions to compliment our work in counseling, empowering you with skills to calm your mind & body on a daily basis.
I have experience helping clients reduce and manage symptoms of depression without medication. What has worked very well in the past: Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and lifestyle coaching, referrals for acupuncture and massage, teaching & practicing mindfulness skills, exploring personal meaning/purpose; and individualized therapeutic Yoga sessions to compliment our work in counseling.
