My Ideal Client

I am passionate about helping teenagers and their families. I believe that most teens are doing the best they can, despite the many challenges, behaviors, and emotional roller coasters that come up during adolescence. My mission, as a therapist, is to come alongside them in a way that can support and draw out their best selves. I am trained in both traditional therapy and art therapy. In sessions, I allow my clients to choose if they prefer talking, making art, or a combination of the two.

My Approach to Helping

The therapeutic relationship is always at the core of my work with clients, and I aim to establish a sense of trust and safety with each individual. It is important to make therapy a place that feels positive and supportive… and even fun! I work primarily from a psychodynamic and attachment-based perspective, while also drawing from trauma-informed care and interpersonal neurobiology. I am rather eclectic and flexible in my approach, and I collaborate with my clients adjusting to each individual’s preference and therapeutic need. Most children and teens do not want to talk about their problems. This doesn’t mean they are unable to or unwilling to process their feelings, but it does mean they may need a more creative approach than just sitting in a room and talking to an adult. I work hard to try to find the best means of expression for each client. This can include creating visual art, sharing music, movement, or imaginative play and storytelling.
