My Approach to Helping

Life can be hard in so many ways. We live in oppressive systems giving or denying power, access and affirmation based on racial, gendered, class, sexual, ablist constructions of humanity. Our experiences, generational, familial, interpersonal, societal, cultural impact our everyday reality as well as teach us about who we are. They are held in our brains and bodies in unconscious and subconscious patterns throughout multiple systems. When we mindfully bring our attention and acceptance to our experience in the moment, these patterns can open and reveal themselves and allow for awareness, connection to self and truth and support greater choice.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a 54 year old, white, queer, gender fluid human. I understand webs of trauma result from colonialism and settler colonialism, capitalism, cis-hetero patriarchy, from generations of stolen land and chattel slavery; I know that ongoing genocide, erasure,extraction and violent anti-Blackness constantly retraumatize and reharm ...as a white therapist, I recognize that I embody white violence and can/may/do perpetuate it. I am practiced at identifying, uncovering and confronting white supremacy in myself and the world around me. I work to understand and see clients and their unique experiences within context, including the generational violence of settler colonialism, capitalism, cis-heteropatriarchy and white supremacy and value their knowledge of their experience, acts of resistance, survival and resilience.
