My Ideal Client

If you are looking for a place where you can feel seen, understood and supported without judgment as you pursue peace and healing, we’re glad you’re here. At Sparking Hope Counseling, we believe that growth starts with safety and acceptance. We stay informed about the complex intersection of neurodiversity and mental health, while listening closely to your experience and centering your needs.

My Background

After 10 years working in the mental health field and 5 years working in public education, I saw a huge need for neurodivergent students and their families to feel less alone and have more options for support. Too many families expressed feeling misunderstood and belittled by educators and outside professionals, and had difficulty finding care that actually worked for them. As a parent, professional, and neurodivergent person myself, I could relate to the frustrations of being given textbook answers that didn't fit. I wanted to find a better way to care for people. In June of 2025, I left my School Counseling role to build Sparking Hope Counseling, a mental health clinic that focuses on addressing the unmet needs of neurodivergent folks in Portland.

My Approach to Helping

We are dedicated to providing research-supported mental health care in a neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQ+ affirming, and anti-oppressive way. My approach to counseling is rooted in neuroscience and polyvagal theory, attachment theory, and a systems perspective. I am certified in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and as a Positive Discipline parent educator.
