My Approach to Helping

I have a strength based, person centered approach which is trauma informed and incorporates psychodynamic, narrative and existential therapy, as well as aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques. I believe everyone has the potential for growth and fulfillment through finding meaning in their life. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, collaborative environment in which the client feels free to express their thoughts and emotions as we work together, exploring their goals and experiences and finding new paths to meet the challenges in their life.

More About the People I Treat

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. I earned my Master's degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis and Clark College. My professional counseling experience and training includes working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, trauma and crisis counseling, and emotionally focused therapy. I have had the opportunity to provide support to individuals in all stages of life, from college students to senior adults experiencing anxiety, depression, work stress and relationship issues.

Techniques I Use

Issues I Treat

  • Coronavirus/COVID-19 External link

The COVID-19 crises is effecting all of us in different ways. If social distancing has left you feeling isolated and disconnected or you are experiencing uncontrollable worrying thoughts, increased anxiety or depression, teletherapy can help. Through secure video sessions I will work with you to build coping strategies to manage your emotions and help you feel more connected.

  • Women's Issues External link

As a parent who returned to graduate school in mid-life I have experience with the challenges and transitions that many clients face such as parenting issues, divorce, caring for elderly parents, grief, and career change. One of my passions is working with women who struggle with self-esteem issues or relational power dynamics to become empowered and find their voice.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

I have personal and professional experience with the LGBT community and have provided counseling to individuals navigating the coming out process, relationship issues and family dynamics.

  • Anxiety External link

We all experience anxiety at some point in our lives. Anxiety can be a motivator to take action. It can also be debilitating, taking a toll emotionally and physically. I help clients work through their resistance to anxiety in order to embrace the discomfort and ultimately let it go.
