I approach counseling as a kind of sherpa-guide working in tandem with my clients. As part of a team, we move together towards the goals you have, always with the assumption that people are influenced by the past, but their current and future successes depend on the decisions they make and actions they take today. I value each person’s unique life experiences and appreciate the strengths they bring to the counseling process. My hope for each person I counsel is that they will experience challenge, comfort, growth and understanding, and that through the counseling experience they will be encouraged on their journey to a fuller, more meaningful life.
I graduated in 2006 with an MA in Counseling. I specialized in learning how early life experiences can lead to habits that we need to change in order to live a happier, healthier life. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon, which means in addition to my Masters in counseling I have completed over 2400 hours of supervised counseling. I also happen to be a therapy nerd and regularly attend workshops and trainings to hone my skills. I’ve worked in community mental health, a hospital and my own private practice. I've helped people struggling with tough life transitions, depression, anxiety and recovery. Private practice is hands-down my favorite and the best job I’ve ever had.
