My Approach

I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where the healing process can unfold naturally. My approach is holistic, recognizing the fundamentally interconnected nature of body, mind, and soul. The overarching goal of my work is to help you discover a more fulfilling and healthy way of being. We will work collaboratively to change unhealthy patterns of thought and emotion and make way for the development of a more authentic self. My theoretical orientation is eclectic, drawing inspiration and expertise from Humanistic, Jungian, Self-psychology, and Buddhist psychology. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral interventions when appropriate. At the core, I offer myself to you as a steady compassionate ally in your movement toward healing. A guiding assumption of the work is that the body and psyche have a natural capacity for self-healing that the therapeutic relationship can help to recover.

My Background

I have been counseling individuals and couples in private practice since 2005. Prior to that, I interned at the YWCA counseling center, where I provided low-fee counseling to a diverse population. In addition to my private practice, I work part time as a Family Support Specialist at the Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center where I provide therapeutic support and resources to adoptive families. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and a Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology from University of Oregon. My graduate thesis was on the application of Buddhist ideas and practices to psychotherapy. I also have post-graduate training in humanistic/existential psychotherapy, mindfulness therapy, maternal mental health, trauma therapy, and therapy with adoptive families.
