Dane Nielsen, MA

Professional Counselor Intern

I utilize an interactive approach drawing from mindfulness, cognitive, and depth theories. Each person is treated in a holistic manner to understand all the aspects that cause distress to your unique situation. These often involve exploration of both mental and physical symptoms and their effects.

My Approach

Stressed, anxious, angry, racing thoughts, depressed, feeling stuck, trouble sleeping. Sound familiar? These are all too common struggles and I specialize in helping males from preteen on up on these and more. I work with teens to help them communicate their needs and make sense of their world. With parents, I help them to find ways of communicating and connecting with their children. For other adults, I help them to calm their mind and thoughts and find passion in their life and work. I look at each individual from a holistic perspective so they are able to gain control and understanding of their thoughts and life.

My Background

I hold a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. Outside of schooling, I have participated in several workshops and programs which focus on topics such as mindfulness, medication, trauma, and other therapeutic studies.
