My Approach

I love to help people resolve pain, tension, and disconnection in their lives and in their relationships. My approach is relational, experiential, body-centered, and in-depth. Physical and emotional symptoms get your attention. I view these struggles not as “flaws,” but as important sign-posts on the path to healing. There are a few guiding principles I often use in my work: bringing awareness to the process that is occurring, befriending various elements of that process, and following this awareness toward actions, experiences, and relationships that bring greater alignment and balance. The therapeutic relationship is a healing space that allows for full expression and deep listening. Through this relationship the traumatized body can be brought back into present time. The disappointed mind can be brought into balanced focus. The anxious nerves can be soothed into stillness.

My Background

In addition to my training and experience as a counselor, life coach, and yoga instructor, I conducted research on circadian rhythm disorders and light/dark cycles in a scientific laboratory for seven years. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Portland and a Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I provided counseling to clients at a local community nonprofit organization, The William Temple House, for two years as part of my education. I currently provide counseling to clients in my private practice in SE Portland.
