Professional Counselor

I really enjoy the healing process, connecting with others, alleviating suffering, and helping people find their own path in life. I have a background in mindfulness, am a published author on the mood-nutrient connection, and have a background in evolutionary psychology and psychedelic research.

My Approach

I take a client-centered approach to counseling. You have a truly unique life experience, and the therapy I provide should represent that. I use mindfulness-based tools to help people foster insight into their minds, bodies, and emotions, and connect with their core self to promote healing and empower people to live by their values. I also help people look at health factors, environmental issues, and nutrition that may be causing additional pain, depression, anxiety, and suffering. In the therapeutic process I believe it is necessary not to just treat any individual symptoms, but treat the whole self and root cause of any issue to promote optimal healing.

My Background

I have been practicing client-centered healing with mindfulness techniques in the community for 4 years. I started out working on the streets of Chicago for the DBT program Thresholds, providing at-home therapy to people exposed to trauma living with persistent mental health issues. I then went on to become the first male practitioner to work at the Postpartum Wellness Clinic SPHD outside of Chicago providing treatment of mood disorders to parents of young children. I moved to Portland in 2016 and worked at the outpatient clinic at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare before creating Mindful Healing Portland.
