My Approach

My approach is rather straightforward. I meet people where they are at and allow the process to be collaborative in nature. I believe strongly that clients know themselves best and my role is to help a client understand who they are, reclaim a healthy sense of self and move forward in strength and insights. I believe in a holistic approach, meaning that both discovery and solutions can be found in any area of a person's life so addressing body, mind and soul is essential. My passion for supervising comes from a deep commitment to give back to the community that nourished and educated me. I have been both consumer and provider, arriving at a competent place of knowing when someone is right for the field and when they are not. My core tools are Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral and Internal Family Systems. I am the sole owner of my business therefore, make my own appointments. Consultations are also done via phone or in 30 minute sessions.

My Background

I have a Masters In Social Work and obtained my LCSW October 2005. I have been in the helping profession since 1990, starting with street youth and domestic violence. Since then, I have worked with the homeless, street youth, chronic mentally ill, dual diagnosed adolescents, every day adults, couples and families. I have worked for the Multnomah County Crisis Line, Juvenile Justice Center, Project Respond, and Providence Portland Medical Center OP Mental Health. These experiences have afforded me a broad perspective of human behavior, increased my capacity to empathize and care, fostered greater creativity in helping the hurting, and expanded my learning. My specialty is working with difficult people, addressing suicide and I am in the process of obtaining my EMDR certificate.
