Suzanne Manser

Clinical Psychologist

I am a psychologist, licensed since 2001, with a new practice in NE Portland. I have a strong specialty in eating disorders and body image issues. I also specialize in anxiety, though I see people with concerns such as depression, bipolar disorder, low self-esteem, and life transitions.

My Approach

I work collaboratively and compassionately with my patients toward realistic goals. My therapeutic approach incorporates psychodynamic theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT, an evidence-based approach), and neuroscience research to help each patient reach insights and use skills (e.g., mindfulness meditation) to make effective, sustainable changes in their lives. I treat individuals aged 16 and up. I am currently only able to take private pay but am in process of contracting with PacificSource and considering other insurance carriers. I do have a sliding scale.

My Background

I have had a private practice for 17 years and have worn many hats. I have served as the director of a psychology clinic in a graduate school, taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, given numerous invited talks, and served on two boards. I have worked on psychiatric inpatient units, in a day treatment program, and a psychiatric emergency room. My practice is informed by all of these experiences.
