My Background and Approach
I’m earning a Master of Social Work at Portland State University, and I hold Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology, Social Science, and Liberal Studies (my senior capstone was on Higher Education in Prison/Project Rebound!). I have experience: volunteering as a restorative justice dialogue facilitator, working in upstream suicide prevention, and supporting justice-impacted youth in residential, behavioral rehabilitation.
My experience with justice-impacted folks, and in suicide prevention, empowers me with the capacity to sit with people who are experiencing shame and hopelessness during their darkest moments in an affirming, non-judgmental way. I wholeheartedly believe that humans are not defined by the harm(s) they have caused or experienced, and that we all deserve (and are capable of) transformation. My practice is driven by my belief in the transformative power of all that reclaims our humanity, such as animals, art, community, humor, nature, play, pleasure, and relationship.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Born and raised throughout the Willamette Valley (I attended nine different schools from k-12), nature has been my most consistent source of support. I learned to navigate constant transitions and undiagnosed neurodivergence alongside Oregon’s beautiful creeks, rivers, trees, and critters! I continue to love all things outdoors, from long backpacking trips to short neighborhood walks. When I have free time, I also enjoy:
Arts and crafts
Dancing like a silly goose
Hanging out with dogs!!!
Moon Magic
Spending time with loved ones
Reading and writing silly and serious things
