My Ideal Client

I specialize in working with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, substance use disorder or who have otherwise lost touch with their sense of self-worth and their potential for great change and transformation.

My Approach to Helping

I believe that even our most challenging emotions (confusion, anxiety, grief, shame, and obsession to name a few…) come to us as expressions of deep caring for ourselves and the world around us, and that these experiences can be truly amazing teachers when we know who and what we are dealing with. I believe that no matter where we are in life, we already possess the inherent healing wisdom to find ourselves through struggle. Therapy to me, is the process of revealing this tremendous power within to transform, heal, and guide us through difficult times and into ourselves again. I draw from eastern and western approaches to mental health and I work with a variety of mindfulness-based methods to build self-compassion and awareness to support finding a healthy trajectory in life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that at every moment there is potential to find relief and change the course of our lives. By building compassionate self-awareness we can tap into the amazing power we possess to connect with ourselves and others. I am a student of the spiritual and religious traditions of the world and support working with those from diverse spiritual backgrounds or anyone who might consider themselves at least “spirit curious.” I have a combined 10 years of experience working in the mental health field as a substance use disorder counselor, mentor/skills trainer for foster youth, and as part of a mobile crisis response team in Eastern Oregon. Prior to entering the field, I worked as a park ranger, nature interpreter, youth conservation corps leader and wilderness guide. I believe that nature can be a powerful ally on our road to wellness and I integrate nature-based paths to healing in my work. When not in the office, you’ll find me on the trail, in the garden, or watching the stars.
