My Ideal Client

I specialize in working with women of color. Women I work with may find themselves feeling invalidated, isolated, or at a loss with how to move forward from difficult experiences. Maybe work, relationships, or other stressors are increasing feelings of worry or sadness? Do you require support with a difficult transition, desire to create boundaries, or increase positive communication skills?

My Approach to Helping

My therapeutic style involves assisting clients in processing and gaining better understanding of emotions, habits, or relationships that may be impacting their life in an undesirable manner. This happens through the creation of a safe space that acknowledges intersecting identities, oppressive systems, and generational trauma often add extra stress and turmoil into the lives of women of color. I also aim to empower clients through normalizing help seeking, education about mental health, and believe no one is without skills, we just need a space to discover them. My hope is clients walk away with increased ability to maintain a level of mental health that feels appropriate for them, and life long tools to cope in the face of stressors.

Why I Became a Therapist

I was born and raised in Portland Oregon, a city with little diversity. I have encountered much racism, and discrimination in the mental health field and beyond. This lack of diversity, along with narratives of harm I've come across led me to seek out a career in social work, and continue to pursue my MSW. I engage in therapy, particularly with women of color, with the goal of minimizing inequities, and increasing access to anti-racist mental health spaces. I'm hopeful that by being in practice I am increasing diversity in the field, minimizing one less harmful experience, and ensuring that more voices feel validated.
