My Approach to Helping
My primary theoretical orientation comes from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness based practice which seeks to foster psychological flexibility, give you the tools you need to navigate hard emotions and live a values driven life. I tailor my sessions to the client before me, addressing their unique needs and goals by integrating ACT with trauma informed and harm reduction approaches. Our mental health is impacted by the world around us and I fundamentally believe that we all carry with us the impacts of our unique identities and positionalities, our families of origin as well as our found families, our experiences of joy as well as our experiences of trauma and oppression.
