I believe that at the heart of human experience we all have choice, free-will and the capacity for self-actualization and self-fulfillment. I believe that all people know what they need, and with the right support and guidance, will make changes that are the most meaningful to themselves. Everyone has growth potential!

As the writer and teacher Stephen Levine put it, “To heal is to touch with love that which was previously touched by fear.” A basic guiding principle in my work is that, when we are able to really see and accept where we are, and who we are, we begin to heal and grow. There is a trust I have found in this, that if we attend to what comes up in this place, it will lead us through.

Sometimes coming to therapy is about exploring, where you have been and what your next life steps will be, or to explore deeper patterns that keep appearing in your life. I would love to be alongside you in this process!

In the end, all therapy focuses on personal growth. Very often our complaints stem from some fundamental unwillingness to grow. Childhood wounding leaves us hoping for a parental figure (or lover) to fill a void in our lives. The maturity that comes from looking at and facing our lives and the disappointments in our lives and taking responsibility for moving forward is a life-long process.

My practice focuses on helping you understand yourself better and clarifying your personal values. I can help you become aware of the patterns in your life, so you can make intentional decisions about how you want to live your life.

Experience working with adults in learning about the connections between our pasts and present and finding playful interventions to meet treatment goals.

I often like to relate personal growth to trees. In order to grow trees need to be in the right environment, with the proper soil, water, and light to grow. Sometimes trees need to shed their branches so they can reach new heights. I work with you to help identify your values, strengths, and grounding so you can grow towards your light.

My experience teaching philosophy for nearly 15 years has given me the experience of shepherding hundreds of students through the personal growth associated with intellectual development and the cultivation of self-examination and reflection. I am a therapist today because I was able to do the work to re-discover my true self and passion for helping others with the help of “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. Cameron’s work, along with others, such as Thich Nhat Hanh and Pema Chödrön, informs my therapeutic work with clients interested in continued growth and personal development.

Sometimes, we just feel stuck. What if we \'checked all the boxes\' and still don\'t feel happy or fulfilled? What if we didn\'t. There are various life events - birthdays, marriages, birth of a child, layoffs, death of a parent, divorce - that can make us pause and reflect, \'What now?\' Therapy can help us discover our answers.

Within every one of us is a story of anguish, perseverance, and confidence that arises from heart-wrenching dilemmas. For lasting impact, I have found the foundation of personal growth must be the fostering of a deep sense of worthiness exactly as one is. Although a commonly-held belief, self-judgment and self-criticism do not motivate us to do better; they keep us stuck in the very patterns we seek to avoid. Only when we learn to let go of unhelpful narratives about who we are can we realize our full potential.

Who am I? Where is my life headed? What does it all mean? These are questions we're sometimes able to keep out, but there are times they bubble to the surface. When that happens, let's work on figuring out what your values are, what you want from the future, and how to get there.
