My Ideal Client

I am passionate about helping diverse populations with mental health concerns. I value advocacy surrounding social justice issues and bring an understanding of minority experiences, especially regarding LGBTQ+ issues into perspective when discussing mental health. I'm currently involved in advocacy and activism for the LGBTQ+ Community. I provide letters of support for gender affirming surgery.

My Background and Approach

I hold a degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2018). Started working with clients in 2016. I have experience in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, case management, and supported housing. I have learned many skills and resources from working in those environments, and I endeavor to see things through a systemic and non-pathologizing lens. In doing this work, I like to think about parts of us that needed something along our life's journey that we may not have received in a way that was affirming to us. These younger parts of ourselves need love and understanding to grow.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in treating each person with warmth, dignity and respect, while upholding the professional boundaries of the counseling relationship. I work from a broad theoretical background and approach care with a systemic and non-pathologizing lens. I also aim to empower my clients, and I understand that each individual has their own pace and path in the growth process. I encourage each client to try new approaches to mental health and voice their experiences with what is helpful and what has helped previously.
