As a depth-oriented psychotherapist, I blend traditional talk therapy with the creative process and invite a deepening into the unfolding story of your life. With the exploration of symbolism, imagery, and self expression, opportunities for healing can arise which open new pathways, both internally and externally. I incorporate a model of treatment that includes cognitive modalities, emotional regulation, stress management, coping skills, behavior modification, and ways to address the unconscious processes and how they express themselves.Through this work, a deep level of integration emerges which serves to unleash unlimited potential for optimum growth.

I received my Masters degree from Pacifica Graduate Institute with an emphasis in Depth Psychology. I have also received additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Skills, Mindfulness Training, and Marriage and Family Therapy. While these theoretical models provide a substantial framework for my practice, my work is largely informed by the personal experience of profound grief. Journeying through these difficult waters allows me to uniquely empathize and assist my clients through life struggles and losses.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Depth Therapy External link

Depth Therapy is the theoretical framework of my graduate program, therefore, I feel knowledgeable and skilled in this area. My training included ways to integrate the unconscious material in our psyche, which is intrinsic to personal healing.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

Mindfulness-based psychotherapy is a process that engages the powerful and transformational tool of being aware of the present moment. It allows us to see clearly what is happening in our mind and heart, offering the opportunity for greater choice and the ability to create positive change. As the breath regulates the nervous system, attention toward stillness creates space for deep healing.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Personal Growth External link

Personal growth often requires an exploration of our value system and step by step planning. A meaningful life can begin at any time and a simple willingness is all that is really needed to get started. We can work on your vision and what is necessary to create a life with intention and purpose.

  • Loss or Grief External link

A hollow emptiness often characterizes the inner world of grief. This direct experience of mourning is the balancing act of a lifetime. My approach to understanding grief is to turn toward this empty space and to seek meaning within the loss. While this is a profound undertaking, it can often be the challenge that serves our greater purpose.

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety often results from feeling overwhelmed and unprepared. While some anxiety is our bodys natural way of warning us of a possible threat, it can often feel like our lives are spinning out of control. Through mindfulness practices and centering techniques, we can begin to feel more empowered and less controlled by our emotional responses.

  • Depression External link

Feelings of depression are often taboo in our culture yet are often a natural result to loss and change. I believe there is wisdom beneath the dark times and holding ourselves with compassion serves to bring forth a deeper truth that can be transforming. Seeking to understand and allow the meaning of suffering to unfold takes courage and my personal experience of grief may act as a guide.
