My Ideal Client

I provide individual therapy to adults (18+) on issues relating to: anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts and feelings, life stressors, self-criticism, perfectionism, and relationship complexity. Counseling should be engaging, thought provoking, and supportive. I also understand counseling can be painful at times. I am committed to being present alongside you during all these moments and to honor your exploration into where you have been, where you are, and where you would like to go.

My Approach to Helping

I am here to meet you where you are, using a range of approaches to fit your needs. I use frameworks such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I strive to cultivate a safe space for geeks, gamers, and lifelong learners, offering care that is LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally sensitive, anti-racist, trauma-informed, and weight-inclusive. You are the expert of your story, and I am here to walk alongside you with curiosity and compassion. Therapy should be intentional and meaningful, grounded in your growth, while still leaving space for gentle humor and the occasional geeky or fandom reference.

Why I am a Good Fit for You

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (CADC I), I have been supporting people in social services since 2012 and providing therapy since earning my MSW from Portland State in 2015. My approach is person-centered, relational, and collaborative, grounded in curiosity and a non-judgmental space where you can show up as you are. A little bit about me and how I recharge outside of my therapy role. I enjoy spending time in nature, attending to my plants, playing with my dog, reading novels or comics, enjoying video games, and adventuring in many TTRPG worlds.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

ACT is an engaging form of therapy that includes processing/reflection, learning skills, practicing skills both inside and outside of sessions, and clarifying what matters to you. If you find you have tried everything to stop painful thoughts or feelings, but the struggle continues, this may be a helpful approach. I hope you leave our sessions with a plan of action— something you can take with you and do between sessions that will make a positive difference.

  • Relational  External link

Our relationships with others and the world around us shape how we feel and move through life. Together, we will gently explore your past experiences and patterns to build insight, helping you create healthier and more fulfilling connections.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

We can use this approach to explore the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In our time together, I will assist you in extending kind curiosity to current ways of thinking and to identify if these thought patterns honor your experience and serve you now, or perhaps lead you away from a life you want.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Experiencing anxiety is a normal part of life. Sometimes we feel anxiety so intensely, in our attempts to cope and survive, we may find ourselves moving away from the life we want. Enjoyable activities may no longer feel possible and our circle of workability may start to shrink. My training treating anxiety utilizes approaches to assist others in connecting to their values, unhooking from painful thoughts/feelings, growing self-compassion, and helping you reconnect to what is important to you.

  • Personal Growth External link

If you find yourself experiencing unhelpful perfectionism and unhealthy people-pleasing, I want to partner with you to grow self-compassion and kindness, identify potential thinking patterns which no longer serve you, learn new coping skills, and to feel a stronger connection to the present.

  • Depression External link

I have multiple years of experience working with adults living with severe and persistent mental health concerns, including depression in varying stages of their recovery. I can help you reconnect to what is important to you, grow skills to release painful thoughts/feelings, to hold yourself with kindness, and start living the life you want.
