My Ideal Client

My clients typically are mid-life or older. They may be struggling with mild/moderate anxiety and working through a difficult transition. I love working with clients who have experienced religious harm or who want to work on personal or spiritual growth. I no longer work with clients who are primarily working through childhood trauma issues or clients who have severe and complex problems. (For example severe depression with suicidal actions or thoughts, self-harm, drug/alcohol problems.)

My Background and Approach

I studied Transpersonal Psychology in graduate school and have a credential as a Spiritually Integrated Therapist. I am licensed as a professional counselor in both Oregon and Washington. I am a Master Addictions Counselor. I hold national and state credentials as an Approved Clinical Supervisor and has supervised and mentored many younger clinicians. I am a past secretary of the Oregon Mental Health Counselors Association. In 2009, I won an Award “for substantial contribution to the counseling profession." Regarding my own lived experience, I grew up in a fundamentalist sect. I was a minister in the sect in my 20s and 30s. I left the sect and experienced the power of healing via therapy. At this time in my life I identify as having multiple spiritual identities including Buddhist, Christian, Pagan, and Hindu. I enjoy helping clients who have experienced religious harm and also with clients who want to explore their spirituality.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Transpersonal External link

Transpersonal psychology honors the full spectrum of human experience—including spiritual awakening, mystical insight, and the search for meaning beyond the self. It integrates psychology with contemplative wisdom from diverse traditions, supporting growth that is emotional, psychological, and spiritual. In this approach, we explore not just what's wrong, but what’s emerging—your deeper values, longings, and inner knowing. Whether you're in crisis or on a path of discovery, this can help.

  • Mindfulness-based External link

Mindfulness invites you to slow down, breathe, and notice what’s happening in the present moment—without judgment. Through simple practices, you can become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and body, creating space for clarity and choice. Whether you're managing anxiety, navigating change, or seeking greater inner peace, mindfulness offers gentle, practical tools to reconnect with yourself and live with greater ease and intention.

  • Psychodynamic  External link

The psychodynamic approach explores how your past—especially early relationships and unconscious patterns—shapes your present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By bringing hidden dynamics into awareness, you gain insight into recurring struggles and deepen self-understanding. Together, we create a therapeutic relationship that becomes a safe space for reflection, healing, and transformation. This approach supports lasting change by addressing root causes rather than just symptoms.

  • Contemplative External link

A contemplative approach values stillness, deep listening, and the wisdom that arises when we slow down. Rooted in ancient spiritual traditions and modern psychology, it invites presence, curiosity, and compassion toward your inner life. Rather than rushing to fix, we make space to notice, reflect, and trust the unfolding process. This gentle, spacious work supports healing, meaning-making, and connection with something greater—however you define it.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Spirituality External link

I have a master's degree in Transpersonal Psychology. I am certified as a Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapist. I often utilize the Enneagram in my work with clients. I enjoy working with clients who have experienced religious harm. I also enjoy working with clients who want to use spiritual resources to further personal growth.

  • Personal Growth External link

Many people come to this work with a desire to know themselves more deeply, live with greater authenticity, or move through a life transition with clarity and intention. Together, we can explore the patterns that no longer serve you, cultivate greater emotional awareness, and reconnect you with what brings meaning, purpose, and vitality to your life. Whether you're navigating a shift in identity, career, relationships, or simply feeling a call toward deeper self-understanding.

  • Loss or Grief External link

Grief comes in many forms—death, divorce, illness, lost dreams, or the unraveling of identity. It may come with sorrow, numbness, anger, or even relief. Whatever you're feeling, you don't have to go through it alone. This is a space to honor what you've lost, make meaning of what remains, and slowly find your footing again. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental presence where grief can unfold at its own pace. Whether your loss is recent or long past, together we can tend the ache—and heal.

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, restlessness, muscle tension, or a constant sense of unease. It may leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your head, or unable to fully engage with life. In our work together, we’ll create a safe, grounded space to explore what’s driving your anxiety and to practice tools that bring calm, clarity, and resilience. You don’t have to face it alone—and healing is possible, even if it hasn’t felt that way before.

  • Aging Concerns External link

Aging brings both challenges and invitations—changes in health, identity, relationships, and purpose. You may be reflecting on what matters most, grieving losses, or navigating uncertainty about the future. Therapy can offer a space to explore these transitions with honesty and compassion. Whether you’re facing retirement, caregiving, illness, or simply wondering what comes next, we can work together to honor your experience and support a life of meaning, dignity, and continued growth.
