My Ideal Client

I work with children and families impacted by anxiety, adoption/foster care placement, attachment issues, family conflict, family composition changes, Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental delays, depression, Intellectual Development Disorders, traumatic experiences (during early childhood or more recently), difficulties related to social communication and engagement, sensory processing differences and self esteem issues.

My Background

During my social work career I have worked providing social and clinical services to children and adolescents in residential facilities, community mental health agencies, intimate partner violence shelters, schools, in the home, and outpatient private practice. I have specialized training in working with neurodivergent children and children who have gone through traumatic experiences such as neglect, abandonment, attachment disruptions, bullying, changes in primary caregivers, physical and/or sexual abuse, and social rejection.

My Approach to Helping

I believe that every child and family has the potential for positive change. My practice is centered on the principle that positive change develops when children and teens believe they are accepted, understood and capable. My approach to helping individuals in therapy is accepting, empathetic, validating and encouraging. I use creative, expressive, playful and engaging techniques based on each client's interests, personal preferences and individual capacities. I welcome each client where they are developmentally and join in each child's world so that together we work towards growth and healing.
