My Ideal Client

Are you struggling with chronic pain and feeling hopeless or afraid that it will never go away, that this is how your life will always be, so you’ll just have to learn to live with it? Is your chronic pain, anxiety, or distress keeping you from doing things you once loved, or from living your life to the fullest? Have you seen countless doctors and tried every treatment recommended, yet you’re still not getting better? If this sounds like you, I’m confident I can help you get your life back!

My Approach to Helping

I’m certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT). It’s designed to treat chronic psychophysiologic pain, and has been found to be very effective for a wide range of common chronic pain syndromes and other chronic ailments (e.g., dizziness, IBS, and migraines). Most chronic pain is due to the brain’s faulty interpretation of signals from the body. We call this “mindbody” or “neuroplastic” pain. That doesn’t mean your pain isn’t real – ALL pain is real! I combine PRT and EAET (Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy), along with other therapeutic approaches to help you learn a new way of responding to pain signals. You and I will work together to help you “retrain your brain” in a way that can significantly reduce your symptoms, and in many cases, completely eliminate them. It’s not uncommon for individuals with chronic pain to also struggle with anxiety, depression, obsessive / compulsive tendencies, and / or unresolved trauma. I can help you with those as well!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone has the capacity for positive change, and that whatever challenges or concerns have brought you to therapy do not define you. I strive to create a therapeutic space that feels both emotionally and psychologically safe for every client I see, and treat each individual with unconditional positive regard - accepting you for who you are without judgement. These are necessary elements for healing to take place. My approach to therapy is based on establishing a relationship of mutual trust, authenticity, and respect with each client. I believe each individual embodies a unique combination of life experiences, beliefs, values, challenges, and personality traits. With this in mind, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy; rather, I will tailor my work with you based on your individual needs and treatment goals.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Chronic Pain or Illness External link

As mentioned previously, I specialize in treating chronic pain and other chronic ailments. Some of the most common chronic pain issues we see in our practice include chronic back pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic dizziness (PPPD), CRPS (chronic regional pain syndrome), TMJ, repetitive strain injury, and chronic tendonitis, to name just a few. If an injury has healed but is still causing pain, or the issue isn't responding to treatment as expected, it may be a mindbody issue.
