My Ideal Client

At heart, I think my work has to do with finding mercy-first for oneself, and then for others. Perhaps you are suffering because of long-held negative beliefs or expectations. Maybe you grew up in a household that negated your humanity, or had to keep secrets, or deal with trauma without help. Some part of you knows there's more to life...but how to get past all that early hard-wiring? This is the work. It's hard. But it's good.

My Approach to Helping

Together, we will carefully and reverently look for the unconscious underpinnings of symptoms like depression, anxiety, insomnia, anger, numbness, passivity, and other behaviors that may be interfering with your life or relationships. We will poke at difficult emotions, family patterns, your somatic profile, your nervous system, dreams, symbols, and maybe do some writing or reading if you like. As you become more aware of your own patterns and those of others, your conscious self may access new strategies that lead to major shifts. Working with kids and teens is obviously a different matter, and to them I offer a playful, curious hour in which to work through issues using the sand table, toys, puppets, games, and art making.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I’m an East-coast transplant, a single mom, an adoptive parent, a cancer survivor (twice!), and an immigrant from Germany. I was a writer before becoming a therapist, working in film and advertising. I have native knowledge of workplace issues, love, loss, parenting neurodivergent kids, and sibling issues. I love writing, art, music, and theater, and try to bring that creativity to my practice.
