My Ideal Client

I provide individual therapy services for adults and adolescents (14+) struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and/or emotional pain, life transitions, and grief/loss. Generally, my clients are interested in healing from past wounds, exploring themselves and their challenges more deeply, reflecting on interpersonal patterns, and gaining insight into the ways in which these patterns can help or hinder them. I offer a nonjudgmental, and grounded space for clients to do this meaningful work.

My Approach to Helping

I approach counseling from an inclusive, strength-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered perspective. I believe that all individuals naturally strive toward growth and wholeness, guided by a nurturing inner wisdom or real self. My counseling practice is rooted in attachment-based psychodynamic theory, meaning that our early life experiences impact the way we view ourselves, relate to others, and understand the world around us. Sometimes these experiences can impair our inner wisdom and prevent us from living as our authentic selves. I also view individuals systemically, meaning that each of us is shaped and impacted by the interpersonal patterns and dynamics of our families and relationships. I integrate these theoretical lenses with Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help clients process trauma and move beyond their negative experiences to realize their full potential.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My connection and commitment to this work is deeply personal. Having grown up in a Midwestern culture that discouraged seeking help or even talking about painful feelings or challenges, moving to the more open-minded Pacific Northwest was a revelation in many ways. After experiencing my own transformative growth in counseling, I knew I wanted to help others to process and make sense of the past, gain insight, achieve personal growth, and reach their potential. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling from Portland State University. Before joining Eastside Counseling, I worked in community mental health and outpatient clinic settings with teens and adults. In my free time, I enjoy spending time hiking, running, and swimming in the breathtaking landscapes the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I also recharge indoors by reading, spending time with family and close friends, and engaging in creative projects like painting, baking, and sewing.
