My Ideal Client

Children and adults in need of a less verbal processing space will be a good fit for my practice. I rely on many embodiment strategies that seek to increase noticing, feeling, and acting or not acting on ones internal processes. My use of imaginal exposure is effective with trauma desensitization and the training of new skills. My playful embodied approach can be an alternative to sit down talk therapy (although sitting and talking can be playful and embodied as well).

Hi, I’m Steph! I have 10+ years of experience working with children, adults, and families. I work to incorporate humor and play into what can be really hard work. I am a practicing trauma trained drama therapist and marriage and family therapist who specialized in working with children and adults with trauma or other big life events. I specialize in treating PTSD, anxiety, sexual abuse survivors, school difficulties, adoption related concerns, parenting support, and life transitions. I employ an eclectic approach to therapy with a strong reliance on attachment theory. My primary modality in therapy is a form of drama therapy in which embodiment, playfulness, and relationship are utilized called Developmental Transformations.

More About the People I Treat

I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Drama Therapy from California Institute of Integral Studies. Major coursework included; human development, group dynamics, child therapy, and family dynamics. I am a Registered Drama Therapist by the National Association of Drama Therapists and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist through the state of Oregon. I have been certified to practice Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). I have experience as an Early Childhood Intensive Outpatient Therapist providing mental health treatment to children aged 0-6 in their homes and communities, as a Child and Family Sexual Abuse Therapist providing sexual abuse specific treatment with children aged 3-18 and their families, and as a Child and Family Therapist specifically working with children involved in Oregon's foster care system being reunified with caregivers or transitioning toward adoption.
