My Ideal Client

You are a member of LGBTQIA+ community and/or living in a larger body, and exploring or living with issues that present with holding such identities. You are coming into your sexuality, gender, and/or acceptance of your body size/type. You are trying to connect with your true self. You need help exploring and/or processing the injustices/differences you are experiencing as a result of who you are and who you want to be. You are experiencing depression, anxiety, lack of self-worth or value.

My Approach to Helping

My approach begins with genuine curiosity for each of my clients. While building our therapeutic relationship I navigate through my different tools and orientations to best support the growth, development and exploration for/with my clients. Outside of any model I use, it is important for me to meet my clients where they are, and that may look differently each week. I frequently pull from humanistic, person-centered, CBT and narrative approaches. All of these approaches rely heavily on a trusted, and strong therapeutic relationship. As a relational therapist I really connect in with my clients in a more personable way, I am not a text book or analytical counselor. Together we will create a space where you feel like you can explore/process/heal.

Why I Became a Therapist

The LGBTQ community does not need to change, we deserve to be accepted, loved, and celebrated for who we are! As a plus size lesbian professional counselor associate, I became a counselor for many reasons that result from my own upbringing which was grounded in religious beliefs, and resulted in shame that I have spent decades deconstructing and repairing. I found love and acceptance for myself and want to help create a space and therapeutic relationship for my clients to do their own healing, exploration and processing. Every individual deserves the right to take up their own space, live their own life, and be themselves as they are.
