My Ideal Client

If anxiety, depression, grief, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Bipolar II Disorder, or a major life transition are making it difficult to feel like yourself, therapy can help. As a psychologist with more than 25 years of experience, I help patients gain perspective, build resilience, and create meaningful change during some of life's most challenging seasons.

My Approach to Helping

My approach is grounded in person-centered care, compassionate listening, and practical strategies for change. I use mindfulness-based therapy to help treat anxiety and incorporate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) when appropriate. I especially enjoy working with college students navigating career and life transitions, adults experiencing anxiety and depression, and individuals living with Bipolar II Disorder. My style is warm, collaborative, and practical. While therapy often involves difficult conversations, I believe humor, self-compassion, and genuine human connection can also be important parts of healing. I offer in-person therapy in Portland as well as telehealth throughout Oregon and Colorado. If you're looking for an experienced psychologist who combines compassion, collaboration, and practical guidance, I would be honored to support you on your journey.

Why I Became a Therapist

My path to psychology began early in life. As a child spending time with family in the hospital, I often wished I could do something to ease the suffering of patients around me. Long before I understood what therapy was, I felt deeply drawn toward helping people feel cared for, understood, and less alone during difficult times. During my postdoctoral training and for the decade that followed, I worked within an integrated healthcare setting before spending another decade within a major hospital system. Working in medical settings with individuals facing illness, grief, uncertainty, and major life challenges was one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. This experience deepened my appreciation for the connection between physical and emotional health and continues to inform my holistic approach to care.
