My Ideal Client

Sometimes, life gets hard. We all experience difficulties that span from life events to day-to-day happenings. I seek to work with people to develop effective ways to cope with the hard times and thrive in the good times. In the therapy room, developing an egalitarian relationship is important to me, and being authentic and cooperative is the key to getting real work done in a way that helps you with your specific needs.

My Background and Approach

Taking the first step to therapy isn’t easy and takes courage. And having been on both sides, I want to honor that in my practice. I hope to create a space for growth and exploration as we grow together. I take a person-centered, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approach to help you find the values you want to connect with. After all, I am not the expert on your life; you are. I am here to help provide perspective and an avenue to discuss things. I have experience working with youth of all ages, including L.G.B.Q.I.A.A.+ youth and various individuals in a community mental health setting.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I value the idea that the client is the expert on themselves. Although as a therapist I have (and continue to) study methods in which to be an effective advocate and resource for growth, it is the client who can only understand what is truly best for them. I am an active member of the LGBTQIAA+ community and seek to promote a world in which we can thrive and be treated with decency and respect. With this desire, I have worked with The Trevor Project as a crisis counselor for at-risk LGBTQIAA+ youth and continue the mission of advocacy through educating and learning in my free time. Core to who I am as a person is the belief that everyone deserves to be heard, and it is my job to listen, learn, and ensure is congruent to their intersectional experience.
