My Ideal Client

The time to begin is now. You are already in the transformation process as you are searching for the right fit for yourself, determining what is working for you in your life and what needs changing. Together in therapy we examine patterns you would like to address, build compassion for your history of how these originated, explore new practices to return back to your Inner Resourced Self to grow more resilient. I specialize in support for those experiencing anxiety, trauma and transition.

My Background and Approach

My approach is rooted in acknowledging the acceptance and change process. Learning to be still and pause within our patterns supports the change process. Many people consider therapy after months or years of enduring emotional pain or wondering why things are as they are. Many have wished that sadness, grief or life stress would ‘just go away’ but don’t know how to transform pain into growth. Often people seek therapy when they feel they have worn out their natural supports such as family or friends. As a Psychotherapist and human I meet you without judgment. I work to challenge you while also helping you to support yourself differently to become less stuck. I specialize in working with people experiencing transition, whether relational, career, life or existential. If you are reading this, there is likely a part of you that wishes to be seen and to make important changes to grow and be more comfortable as you are. I hope to be a part of that change process with you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

-I've had extensive training in Buddhist Psychology, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and presence-oriented clinical work. -I have practiced meditation on a daily basis since 1999 and believe it to be a pivotal factor in wellbeing, balance and change. -I have taught meditation since 2005, I had previously taught yoga from 2005-7 and see the importance of how we move trauma and emotions through the body which I incorporate into my therapy practice. -I personally heal through nature, being in the woods, exploring creative process via arts/ceramics/painting. My outlook is rooted in realistic understanding of the human experience. I specialize in trauma support, depression, anxiety and transforming losses/ transitions into growth/resilience.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) External link

"Become stronger at the broken places" is the tagline for AEDP and it is the core of my approach to therapy. Very much rooted in neurobiology, presence-focused therapies, AEDP is designed to work on attachment and trauma issues from a deep, resonant place.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

I have trained with Steven Hayes, Ph.D, the co-creator of ACT, attended ACT bootcamps and continue self-study daily with ACT principles.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

I have over 20 years experience and expertise guiding others to live differently and more skillfully with anxiety and panic. I understand anxiety from first-hand experience and can attest to evidence-based practices that work, including body-mind integration, nervous system repatterning, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
