My Ideal Client

I work with individuals who feel stuck, anxious or depressed and help you find ways to navigate stressors in your personal life or in the world. We can work together to find your ideal path forward. This can take many forms and is customizable to what you want, ranging from arming yourself with a toolbelt of coping and grounding skills, working on reaching a place of acceptance, or healing from past pain and trauma.

My Approach to Helping

My approach pulls techniques from multiple counseling theories including Narrative, Gestalt, Nurtured Heart and Memory Reconsolidation. The first thing that I want to do is learn about your story and discuss where you see yourself. Are you stuck in the middle of a boring chapter that won't feel like it will ever end? Are you on the verge of some major change or climax that you don't feel ready for? Or are you on the other side of something and you do not know how to process it? Wherever you are in your story, I am here to listen and help you get to your next chapter. My therapeutic approach will consist of validation, reframing, maybe the occasional challenge, and if you are up for it, some homework! My background education is in anthropology, which taught me to always be culturally sensitive, which I bring with me to any therapy session.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that our culture feeds our story, and our story is what makes us who are. I want to hear your story and be a part of your next one. I am an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community. You will catch me at the occasional pride event in the Portland area. I am an advocate for social justice and outspoken about marginalized communities. As part of my love for stories, both real and fictitious, I am passionate about many different fandoms. There is a good chance that one or more of our interests will align and we may end up talking about what we liked about a movie or TV show. I may even ask who some of your favorite characters are or what stories you get invested in to look for themes and see how it may relate to how you see yourself and your life. We may even do some Dungeons & Dragons character creation as a tool for discussing how you see yourself or someone in your life.
