My Ideal Client

I work with teenagers who are struggling with issues around friendships, identity, and connection. As a former middle school teacher, I am very familiar with the complicated and confusing social dynamics that teenagers must navigate each day and how painful it can be to feel like you don't belong.

My Approach to Helping

In our increasingly technology-filled lives, social skills like building close friendships, learning to empathize with others, and building self-confidence have become even harder for teenagers to develop. I specialize in helping teens build social and emotional skills so that they can thrive in all areas of their lives. My background in education and training as a Marriage and Family Therapist gives me a unique understanding of teenagers’ experiences at school and how to create meaningful change. My approach is warm, compassionate, and sometimes humorous, with the goal of helping clients feel safe expressing their concerns.

Why I Became a Therapist

I began my professional career as a middle school math teacher in a small, community-oriented K-12 school. While I enjoyed teaching middle school math content, I realized over time that I valued the relational aspects of teaching more than the educational side. I discovered that my favorite part of my job was serving as a trusted adult for students who often needed help navigating the chaos of middle school. At the end of the 2024 school year, I made the difficult decision to leave teaching in order to begin a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, a field that I felt would more closely align with my natural skills and passions.

I have over a decade of experience working with children and teenagers in a variety of settings including as a therapist, a classroom teacher, an experiential educator, and an athletic coach. Over the course of these different experiences, I have learned to connect with children and teens by learning about their unique passions, interests, and skills. I believe that understanding the things that excite my clients is just as important as understanding the problems that they are facing.
