My Ideal Client

I see individual adults for issues such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, general life-hardships, and more. If you having been struggling with any of these and would like to speak with someone who will listen compassionately and without judgment while helping you learn tools to gain some control over your life and your mind, then please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Your journey toward better well-being can start now!

My Background and Approach

I am a licensed professional counselor and work primarily through a cognitive-behavioral model, where we explore how beliefs and thoughts affect emotions and how these can affect behavior in order to move toward positive change. Because each person is unique and might have different needs, I do not hold a one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. I believe that the best approach is a collaborative one! My hope is that the skills and insights you learn through our work together can help reduce your distress while helping you to move toward healthier and more helpful patterns in your life.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

I work with clients to accept their experiences with willingness and openness. I guide them in learning how to commit to their values and goals with the most helpful and useful actions available to them in their unique circumstances. Clients come away with a better understanding of what is important to them and how to pursue it while being more willing to accept the wide variety of experiences that life has to offer.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I utilize a cognitive behavioral approach where I have been able to help clients who struggle with maladaptive thought and behavior patterns learn healthier and more adaptive ones that they can apply in their lives going forward.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy External link

I have worked with several clients struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder who have been able to gain better management of their symptoms by working collaboratively through an exposure and response prevention approach.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

I teach clients cognitive, somatic, and behavioral skills to manage anxiety in healthy and helpful ways even when it is not possible to get rid of. Clients can learn to gain better control over their anxious thoughts and can learn skills to cope with unpleasant feelings and sensations.

  • Depression External link

I help guide clients toward improved mood and better mental and emotional wellbeing through cognitive behavioral and acceptance and commitment, as well as mindfulness approaches. Clients tend to come away with an improved mood and better sense of well-being, less negative-self talk, and more willingness to pursue their core values.

  • OCD External link

I utilize exposure and response prevention as well mindfulness in a collaborative and compassionate way in order to help clients manage their OCD symptoms. The clients I have worked with who struggle with OCD tend to come away with significantly less struggle with their obsessions and better management of their compulsions.

  • Adjustment Disorder External link

I help clients navigate through the mental, emotional, and behavioral symptoms resulting from major life stressors through cognitive behavioral and acceptance and commitment approaches. I help clients make meaning of their experiences and learn coping skills to manage distress.
