My Ideal Client

Hello and welcome. As a trauma therapist, I believe that one of the biggest indicators of finding therapy helpful is a solid therapeutic alliance, which means feeling like I am the right fit for you to meet your goals. In the past, I have connected and worked well with health care workers, therapists, anyone else at high risk of burnout. I have a passion working with folx living with chronic illness and pain as they navigate the complex healthcare system.

My Background and Approach

My approach is trauma-informed, attuned, compassionate, transparent, and person-centered. I also can recognize the value in having a light-hearted, humorous, and casual approach in the clinical space as well. I have an eclectic approach to working with clients as I don't believe there is a singular way to help someone through their trauma or struggles. I pull from frameworks such as Person-Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy/attachment based modalities, Narrative Therapy, Somatic/Experiential Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Feminist Therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a person who walks through the world with privilege, I am intentional and mindful to keep my work trauma-informed, culturally-inclusive, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, while holding an understanding that I will always be unlearning my implicit biases and this work is never complete. I maintain the stance that therapy in inherently political and you cannot separate the political from the personal. How does this show up in the therapy room? With your consent, I welcome us to explore how systems much larger than you and I have impacted your wellbeing and have shaped your view of self.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • EMDR External link

I was trained in EMDR January 2023 and use it as a way to process trauma in a structured way with individual clients, however it informs all of my sessions.

  • Couples Counseling External link

I work with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is an attachment based approach. During our time together, I will walk with you both and help identify the cycles that you are stuck in. My goal is for you both to feel safe to express emotions, respond with attunement and empathy, all on the way to rebuilding trust and safety. EFT aims to create a safe and secure emotional relationship.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • PTSD External link

My main specialty is working with folx who are recognizing the impacts past trauma you have experienced. Whether it is from your childhood, a past sexual experience, attachment trauma, or systemic trauma from discrimination and marginalization- I see you. Together we can work towards feeling less presently impacted by things that have happened to you in the past. I am also trained in EMDR if you are looking for a more structured way of processing your experiences.
