My Ideal Client

I work with adults navigating challenges and unknowns in their lives. This might include things like trauma, anxiety, depression, aimlessness, spiritual issues, or complicated relationships. It also might include periods of life that are just hard. I welcome people who are new to counseling as well as those looking to deepen. My ideal client has a willingness to share and explore their inner world--this will look and feel different for each person. I especially welcome men.

My Approach to Helping

I cater my approach differently to each person, but I tend to encourage things like developing mindful awareness, exploring the impacts of your personal history, and cultivating compassion. I welcome the exploration of dreams, spiritual curiosity, and creative expression. I also facilitate shadow work and parts work. I specialize in grief and loss. Typically people associate grief with the death of a loved one. However, grief and loss include much more than that, including things like the loss of a job or career, the end of a relationship, relocation, and broader issues surrounding the environment or politics. Loss is a central feature of the human experience. I have a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lewis & Clark.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

For some, therapy is an important step in healing and in cultivating a life of meaning, contentment, and connection. It takes some courage to begin the process because it can be uncomfortable. A benefit of therapy is that we hold that discomfort together. We explore it together. We learn about it together. This can be a powerful process. Some may find relief, invigoration, love, inspiration, or insight. I like to remind people that we are part of nature. Any act of personal healing, growth, or deepening is an act of care not only for yourself but for the natural world. Carl Jung shares a similar sentiment, writing: "If a person only learns to deal with their own shadow, they have done something real for the world." It is a truly worthwhile to pursuit to attend and take care of your life.
