My Ideal Client

I serve youth and their families from ages 0-25 who are struggling with mental health challenges that negatively impact overall functioning and their quality of life. I look forward to getting to know you and help you to become your best self!

My Background and Approach

I have over 10 years experience working in residential and community settings providing services to youth and their families. I draw from many modalities and adjust based on my client’s needs. Therapy is a place to learn more about yourself, better ways to cope with the emotional rollercoaster of life, and support you when times are hard. I also believe therapy should be a safe space but also a positive experience for you. I utilize a friendly, fun, relaxed but intentional approach. I have much experience with youth in foster care and their caregivers. I am certified Post Adoption and Foster Care therapist with ORPARC which has given me a strong foundation when working with this population. I also really enjoy working towards reunification goals both with the biological family and the youth as they navigate emotions especially after a long periods in care.

My Approach to Helping

For younger children, I believe their language is play so will often incorporate play therapy techniques in sessions. Parent participation is strongly recommended as young people often struggle with big emotions and don’t know how to express themselves. The best way for me to teach them and incorporate better coping strategies is for them to practice at home. Parent training is encouraged so once goals are met, they graduate into a support system that is empathetic and functioning in a way that allows them to continue their growth and learning. For tweens, teens and young adults I believe developing their voice and autonomy is very important. We will navigate treatment planning and therapy goals collaboratively with parental involvement as necessary. I rely strongly on DBT interventions for this age believing the positive effects of these skills will benefit everyone.
