My Ideal Client

Many people can struggle with the gap between logical knowing, “I know I’m a good person” and emotional experience, “But I don’t feel like I am”. A primary focus of my approach is to close that gap and integrate outdated beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you. I work well with folks who have a foundational understanding of therapy or who have gotten stuck in the talk therapy circuit. I would ideally like to work clients who have an active interest in somatic based therapy.

My Approach to Helping

I provide a safe and warm therapeutic space to explore your inner world, earn wisdom, and build stability. I specialize in trauma and PTSD using somatic/bottom-up approaches. I also specialize in working with LGBTQ+ folks, especially those exploring gender identity and gender transition. I practice Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as “Parts work”. This process creates more self-leadership, more self-compassion, and deepens clarity. Another benefit to IFS is that it makes space of the ambivalence or hesitation of change. I have a very personable approach to the therapeutic process and believe it's important that you are treated and feel like a person in need of help, not seen as a diagnosis or label. My style incorporates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment theory, and Brainspotting.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a therapist, I am in a unique position to see the impact and vulnerability of living life in our current world/society. You don't have to look very hard to find criticism, marginalization, and oppression in our daily lives. Through that understanding and earning my own wisdom I have adhered to certain beliefs and ideals. The frameworks I infuse into my work come from my identity in the LGBTQ+ community, being kink/queer positive, prioritizing social justice through a feminist lens, as well as practicing the HAES (Health At Every Size) model.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) External link

Also known as "Parts work", I have been practicing IFS for the past 4 years and have completely found my home in this theory. It uses such organic processes to identify different components or parts of your inner world. Some parts are protective in nature while other parts hold burdens and past traumas. IFS is a great process to help not only heal your underlying wounds but also incorporate the protectors along the way.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Gender Identity External link

I have worked with trans and non-conforming folks for nearly a decade. I have worked with people in all stages of transition and exploration. I have years of experience in writing letters and helping clients pursue gender affirming care.
