My Ideal Client

Whether you are questioning, gender non-conforming, non-binary, or interested in medical intervention, you are welcome.

My Approach to Helping

I focus on helping my clients making positive lifestyle choices that support living with fullness and satisfaction. My goals and objectives for our therapeutic work are built upon a foundation of mutual respect, safety, and clear communication. In therapy, we may explore the impacts of discrimination, trauma, and oppression on mental health and well-being. My practice is informed by an anti-oppressive, sex-positive, and feminist systems approach that seeks to bring empowerment and respect to the individual.

My Values as a Therapist

I am a trained art therapist with a love for a variety of creative processes! Art making is always available, but never required! I have expertise in transgender issues in children and adults, exploring lesbian, gay, bisexual, polyamorous, and queer identities, and intersectional feminist family systems theories. I specialize in adoption and foster care issues including support with healing from trauma, abuse, loss, grief, and neglect.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Feminist External link

My work as a feminist therapist focuses on how intersectional oppressions can impact mental health. Within families/relationships, I am focused on support equal division of labor (including emotional labor). Feminism is just as relevant to men's issues as well work to break down gender stereotypes that often prevent men/masculine people from living fully and with joy.

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I am training in Trauma Focused CBT. I believe in deconstructing thinking errors as a means toward mental health. I do not adhere to a strictly CBT approach, but I do borrow heavily from the modality.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Cultural and Systemic Oppression External link

My work with clients often explores the impacts of oppression on mental health. Activism and art making focused on making and envisioning change can be part of our healing process.

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

I specialize in supporting children and teens through difficult times, including gender and identity exploration, depression, anxiety, and adjustment to changing life circumstances. Art therapy is an excellent tool for helpful young people navigate their feelings.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

My practice is informed by an anti-oppressive, sex-positive, and feminist systems approach that seeks to bring empowerment and respect to the individual. My practice includes those who identify as straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, pansexual, asexual, transgender/gender nonconforming, kinky, BDSM, vanilla, monogamous, polyamorous, and more.

  • Gender Identity External link

As a transgender clinician, I have first-person understanding of the impact a person's identity can have on their lives and families. I am a parent, a husband, and an artist. I believe strongly that every person deserves to live healthy and full lives as their authentic selves. I have experience working with transgender and gender non-conforming children, teens, and adults.

  • Depression External link

I use an integrative model that borrows from cognitive behavioral and existentialist concepts. I believe finding wellness can be a form of resistance to oppression.
