My Ideal Client

I work with adults on a wide range of issues, predominantly treating mood disorders, addiction, self image issues, self-destructive behaviors, severe persistent mental illness, and trauma recovery. While diagnostic assessment is an important step in treatment, I do not lose sight of individual differences and work with each client to tailor treatment to their unique experiences, skills, and needs.

My Approach to Helping

My practice, Cloud Garden Counseling, is rooted in resiliency of human spirit and the power of the therapeutic process to inspire and support change. With a broad foundation in evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care, I use an integrative and creative approach to individualized care. I utilize cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies (CBT and DBT) along with emotion-focused, and intuitive applications of narrative therapy and parts work to support clients in gaining new coping tools and a deeper understanding of themselves. Together we work to reach personal goals, strengthen support, and overcome old patterns and harmful influences. With this client-centered and strength based approach we can forge a path to understanding the influences that act upon you and the power you have to re-story you own life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a trauma survivor and person in recovery, my belief in our power to grow, heal, and change is deeply tied to personal experience. Since childhood I have relied heavily on storytelling and artwork to overcome difficulties and deepen my understanding of self and others. Writing and illustration remain steadfast tools and add great joy to my life inside and outside the therapy room. Though art and writing do not always come into therapy, I enjoy when the use of metaphor or visual expression joins naturally with other therapy tools.

Together we can find the behavioral and cognitive interventions that best fit their needs and learning style.
