My Ideal Client

I help couples communicate more effectively so each person feels heard, valued, and appreciated. I work with men to resolve anger issues and relationship conflicts that are lowering their quality of life. I also help adults and teenagers that suffer from depression, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, and low self-esteem. Together, we will find solutions to your problems so you feel happier, healthier and more satisfied with life.

My Approach to Helping

You'll get a safe space to talk that is free of judgment. You won't be forced to talk about anything that's triggering, jarring or upsetting. You'll receive science-based tools you can use to build stronger relationships, reduce negative feelings, boost self-esteem, increase happiness and increase the satisfaction you feel in life. We will collaborate to help you find insight about your life. We will work together to help you build new skills. I will give you a comfortable place to share what's on your mind because it can feel good to tell a supportive person what's bugging you. I genuinely want you to feel better and get better. To do that I will help you find out why you feel bad and what works best to help you feel better and achieve your goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I owned two small businesses for nearly 20 years before I decided to become a therapist. One appeared on The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan. I am also a father, husband, friend, animal lover, Little League coach, son, wanna-be chef, writer, and (hopefully) a down-to-earth guy. I strive to bring trust and transparency to my relationships. Clients tell me I'm easy to talk to because I have a relaxed style. I believe humility is a superpower. I believe we all have superpowers that we often are not aware of. I also value kindness, compassion, and authenticity. My writing has been featured in the American Counseling Association's national publication called Counseling Today. To learn more about how I may be able to help you, call or email me and lets see if we're a good fit.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) External link

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps you understand how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. Together, we will identify negative thinking patterns—like black-or-white thinking and catastrophizing—and work to replace them with healthier, more balanced thoughts. CBT is especially effective for depression, anxiety, and men’s issues like anger, stress, and emotional shutdown. It’s about building skills to feel better and get better.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) External link

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you live more authentically by identifying your core values and aligning your actions with them. Instead of fighting difficult thoughts or feelings, we learn to accept them and focus on what truly matters to you. ACT helps you build a meaningful life by staying present, letting go of struggle, and making choices that reflect who you really are—leading to greater peace and fulfillment.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) External link

I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help couples listen, love, and connect more effectively. DBT teaches practical skills like mindful communication, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution. It helps partners stay calm during tough moments, express themselves clearly, and build trust through mutual understanding. The goal is a stronger, more connected relationship rooted in respect and emotional balance.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Anxiety can keep you from living the life you want. The good news is that you don't have to suffer from anxiety. I help men, women, and teenagers resolve anxiety. I will give you tools from ACT and CBT to help you reduce your anxiety quickly. We'll also examine where your anxiety is coming from and determine what works best to help you resolve your anxiety. You're not alone. I will support and guide you through this.

  • Depression External link

If you're feeling depressed, I will offer you science-based tools from CBT, DBT and ACT that you can use to help you feel better. I also provide nonjudgmental space where you can talk about what's bothering you. You may have childhood struggles. You may have key relationship challenges. We'll find out what's causing your depression and what works best to help you feel better.

  • Men's Issues External link

I help men resolve anger issues that may be lowering their quality of life. I help men become "emotionally literate" so aggravating and stressful situations become no big deal. I help men accept themselves instead of drowning in shame that is often piled on us by society, parents, and peers. If you are a man who feels "off" or "out of touch with yourself" or has experienced misandry, I can help you be your true self without shame and guilt.
