My Approach to Helping

Moving Through Uncertainty To Rediscover Peace: Hi, I'm Colette. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Portland, Oregon. I specialize in grief/loss and anxiety, and also help people with depression, addictive behaviors and individuals who experience an unhealthy relationship with food. I know firsthand the emotional and mental toll that the death of a loved one can take, and the many ways in which anxiety can leave one feeling stuck and isolated. ​​​My practice is all about helping my clients rediscover their place of peace. By creating a safe space to talk and move through uncertainty, I can help you find your new joy. I can help you explore a major loss of a loved one or friend, as well as the ‘little deaths’ that accompany us through life—work transitions, changes in relationships, and more. ​I believe that not all change needs to be life-altering. Sometimes it’s the smallest shifts that have the deepest impact.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I earned my Bachelor's degree from Portland State University in Community Health Education, and my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health from George Fox University. ​Some of the modalities and strategies I use include: Mindfulness, person centered, mind/body connection, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral techniques. My work to date has been done in private practice as well as working as a Mental Health Counselor for both men and women in the State Prison system and the Washington County Jail.
