My Ideal Client

The people I work with often struggle with self-esteem, relationships, communication, depression, and anxiety. Many of my clients are young professionals and adults navigating midlife. I practice from a queer affirming and multicultural lens. For whatever concern and identities you bring, I believe in honoring your various and intersecting identities.

My Approach to Helping

Therapy with me looks a lot like talking about what is on your mind, what you’re struggling with day-to-day, and working to understand these things within a broader context of your values, experiences, cultures, and beliefs. I aim to create a safe bond in which you feel accepted, while also being challenged to identify your strengths and areas for growth. We will work together to find common threads throughout your experiences and thoughts. An increased understanding of yourself within the context of your world will move you toward healing. I encourage the exploration of relationships, and believe interpersonal dynamics shape the way we see ourselves and interact with the world. By exploring all kinds of relationships - past and present, as well as our therapeutic relationship - we can reveal the common threads of your internal world and help you feel better.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I bring warmth, curiosity, and humor to our collaborative therapeutic process. My aim is to create an environment with you, in which you feel safe enough to be challenged. I like to help you look at the things that impacted who you are today, and challenge you to explore the ways you view yourself, the world, relationships, and anything else you might be struggling with. I am guided by psychodynamic theories and am informed by structuralism and queer theory. In other words, I think a lot about how you were impacted by society, your caregivers as a child, and your identities.

Techniques I Use

Specialties

  • Psychodynamic  External link

In psychodynamic therapy, insight is the mechanism of change. Your work with me will promote deep introspection, curiosity, cognitive flexibility, and lasting growth. We will look at your early childhood experiences and the ways that you adapted to them, your defense mechanisms, your unconscious world, and your day-to-day life. We will also look at the therapeutic relationship and the here-and-now, as tool for examining your unconscious world.

  • Relational  External link

Engaging in psychotherapy is a deeply vulnerable experience. Through a relational approach, I aim to create a bond with you that will allow you to feel safe enough to heal and grow.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Anxiety External link

Through depth work, I support clients in addressing root causes of their anxiety for long-term growth and change. I utilize brief Psychodynamic/Relational Therapy, sometimes integrating CBT and Mindfulness techniques.

  • Relationship / Marriage Issues External link

I frequently work with people navigating difficulties in their relationships. I help folks with identifying their relationship needs, and supporting them through changes in those relationships. Sometimes this looks like finding new ways to engage with and relate to your partner(s), and sometimes this looks like deciding to end the relationship. I am passionate about supporting you in finding the right path, and bravely walking it.

  • LGBTQ Issues External link

I want to support you in living authentically in your identity! I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community, have studied queer theory extensively, and have worked with this population my entire career.

  • Depression External link

Through depth work, I support clients in addressing root causes of their depression for long-term growth and change. I utilize brief Psychodynamic/Relational Therapy, sometimes integrating CBT and Mindfulness techniques.

  • Self-Esteem External link

I am trained to help you understand how your beliefs about yourself and others impact you across all parts of your life. Your self-esteem is a central part of how you feel and move through the world. We will address this topic both head on, and integrate it throughout the course of your treatment.
