My Approach to Helping

I offer a warm, supportive atmosphere to move towards what you want to grow and leave what you no longer need behind. I CAN HELP YOU WITH: -Shifting ways of thinking about yourself and solving problems that cause you distress and get in your way -Finding balance and feeling less overwhelmed by emotions, stressors, and demands -Working through issues with relationships and supporting you to navigate challenges and experience healthier connection to others -Working through past traumas and difficult experiences to decrease negative impacts on your life now -Supporting you to make successful transitions and decrease the intensity and impact of stressors such as: moving into a new phase of life, taking on new roles, issues with identity, loss, societal pressures and oppressions

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have over 20 years experience working with youth, families, and adults from diverse communities, was a Clinical Supervisor for 4 years, and have been a Mental Health Therapist since 2016. I’m from Vancouver, BC, Canada and have also lived in Montreal, Quebec and Los Angeles, California before moving to Portland, Oregon in 2015. I'm goal-directed and bring supportive challenge, genuine connection, humor, and a focus on strengths to the therapeutic process. I’m passionate about helping people work through unhelpful ways of coping and patterns to get unstuck, develop a stronger sense of pride in who they are, move forward, and live their gifts. My initial approach is focused on getting to know your sources of strength and resilience, as well as the challenges you're facing and develop goals with you. I have training in mental health therapies that are shown to be helpful in research, while also being flexible and adaptive in my approach based on your needs and interests.
