My Ideal Client

I believe relationships shape our lives and our stories. They can be our greatest struggles, but also our greatest sources of meaning and joy. Behavioral and emotional issues coupled with the stresses of daily life can leave us feeling lost and disconnected in our most important relationships. I work with children, as well as with caregivers, couples and families, to manage challenges, process trauma, develop coping and problem-solving skills, and find connection points.

My Approach to Helping

I find it meaningful to work with issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, childhood aggression and relationship distress. As a marriage and family therapy intern, I view all of these through the lenses of systems and attachment. I incorporate play and other experiential therapies, emotionally focused therapy and mindfulness into our work together. Whatever our starting place, it would be my honor to come alongside you, your child and your family to navigate towards your emotional, behavioral and relational goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In addition to being a counseling intern, I am a parent, daughter, spouse, friend, and community member on a never-ending journey of reflection, growth and connection. In every area of my life, I strive to be neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ affirming, culturally-minded, and to create a space around me where others will feel seen and accepted.

Issues I Treat

Specialties

  • Child or Adolescent Issues External link

Every child is a unique person with their own dreams, fears, challenges and talents. And yet the core needs of every child are the same - to feel seen, accepted, safe and connected. In working with children and adolescents, I utilize play therapy, expressive therapy, mindfulness practices and other therapeutic tools with these core needs in mind. Lasting change in behavior, emotional regulation and relationships are built upon that foundation.

  • Family Conflict External link

Our family relationships impact every part of our lives. When there is turmoil in these important relationships, we often find the struggles seep into our work, school, community involvement and emotional well-being. Similarly, external forces can put strain on our family connections. I strive to be mindful of the systems and history that form family interactions, while working with families to reduce conflict, build understanding, and create new communication patterns.
