Licensed Professional Counselor Intern

When the emotional wounds we experience are not visible to the world it can be difficult to express the ways they impact you and it can be difficult to find the right supports. However, we all deserve to be seen and heard and it is not your responsibility to shoulder these burdens alone.

My Approach

It is my core belief is that we are not defined by our labels. We all have a unique life story that deserves to be heard and understood. In my practice I most commonly work with anxiety, depression, life transitions, PTSD, birth and pregnancy related topics, identity development, and areas related to disability and chronic illness. I work largely from a relational, attachment-based perspective and utilize several counseling theories to help build emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and coping skills. I also find enormous value in helping clients to reflect on and identify the aspects of life that lend meaning and purpose. Together we will explore any barriers impacting your goals, identify the aspects of life that feel stagnant, as well as, develop tools that intervene in unproductive patterns and encourage growth. Through the counseling process I aim to assist my clients to gain agency, to find comfort in trusting themselves, and to feel grounded in their lives.

My Background

I am a native Northwesterner and graduated from Portland State University with a master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). I have a specialty in working with individuals with disabilities, chronic illness, and/or medical trauma. I approach counseling from a holistic perspective and focus on understanding each client by considering the whole picture and understanding that we are the result of our collective lived experiences. I also have experience working with teens, adults, and families in office, hospital, and community based settings. I have experience assisting clients with complex trauma, chronic mental health challenges, and life transitions. I am social justice focused and affirming of all identities.
